Pouya’s solo practice involves experimenting with different compositional techniques and sound synthesis techniques to create a sonic passage through hypnotic soundscapes, industrial beats, intricate sound miniatures, epic soundscapes, fractal polymeric rhythms, and pulsating hard-hitting sub frequencies.
His second solo album RocRast, a selection of live performances on modular synthesisers, was released in Oct 2020 on ZabteSote/Opal Tapes.
“... forbidding and more agile, based around exceptionally spare bass sine waves, skeins of interference, crashing stepped tones and the ghosts of rhythms.” [The Wire]
Pouya’s debut album There , published by Entr’acte, is an experiment with traditional Iranian music excerpts to create lush soundscapes, harsh expressions and Iranian melodic noises.
“And over it all, like a mist of regret, a fog of indecision, a cloud of unknowing,
an electronic shroud blocks out the light, whitewashes the history, substitutes
itself for the truth; and nothing stands in its way.” [A Closer Listen]
