Parasang is a live and electronic dance music project inviting musicians, digital artists and dancers, from diverse backgrounds to collaborate with Pouya in the context of experimental electronic (dance) music. Through Parasang, Pouya has collaborated with over 70 musicians from around the globe.
Parasang’s debut album Here, Once Was a Sea brings together artists and musician from Iranian diaspora for a journey through lush soundscapes, noisy atmosphere, Jazz improv, otherworldly acoustic sounds, rivetting text and dreamy vocals.
Parasang started as an exploration of London's diverse musical communities and is now investigating similar possibilities on an international level. It is led by Pouya Ehsaei on with an all hardware setup. The series draws influence from diverse musical communities, inviting guest musicians to improvise and interact with electronics. The series is co-curated by Pouya Ehsaei and Harry Follett of Manana//Records.
During the pandemic, Pouya developed a system where he could continue playing with musicians remotely over the internet. The performances were streamed on Youtube and Twitch in Real-time. During these remote performances Pouya started collaborating with contemporary dancers. He has continued to incorporate dance into his performances ever since.
